East Intersection ("Ostkreuz") Hannover

  • East Intersection (
    Ostkreuz Hannover

The highway intersection Hannover-East is the connection of the highways A2 and A7. The reconstruction of the east intersection Hannover will make the traffic flow more smooth. The project’s aim is to avoid traffic jams from occurring on these two extremely busy highways.

The constructional measures for the project were justified on the basis of a statistic done in 2005 which revealed the following traffic figures:

  • A2: daily traffic density: 112.000 automobiles, incl. 21.000 trucks
  • A7: daily traffic density: 70.000 automobiles, incl. 11.500 trucks

After the completion of works, both highways will be accessible on three lanes per direction including hard shoulders.

One of the project’s noteworthiness criterions is the effective use of the hard shoulder between the highway intersection Hannover-East and the motorway interchange by Lehrte city.

The approval for the permanent change of the road marking for both directions of the hard shoulder has been granted. Therefore new emergency rest stops need to be build and the existing traffic signs and marking need to be changed or where needed added.

Facts and figures:

  • Building with 77 m inside width
  • Duration of the project: March 2011 - autumn 2013
  • Total cost: 29 Mio. Euro

Successful project collaboration with EPLASS:

The execution and as-built documentation for this project are completely processed within the drawing management EPLASS Professional. After specific review tasks, predefined print services are involved so that certain project participants can also receive their drawings in hard copy. This print service management is included in the EPLASS workflows.

In this project a thorough deadline monitoring is very important in order to meet the critical deadlines for the closure of the highway. This requirement is easily and comfortably implemented in EPLASS with the integrated scheduling management function.

After completion of the reviewed As-Built documentation in EPLASS, the drawings get archived. We offer different options of archiving at the end of a project (e.g. exposure on microfilm, digital archiving in PDF/A form, Virtual Machines, etc.).
